Believe it or not, there are clear signs buyer interest is heating up again. Recent Google Trends data shows that online home-buying searches have climbed to their highest point in two years. As a Realtor in Connecticut, I’ve seen firsthand how online activity often predicts real-world housing demand.
Buyers Are Looking, and Search Trends Prove It
One of the clearest ways to measure buyer interest is to see what people are searching for online. According to Google Trends, online searches for the terms “home for sale” and “homes for sale” have climbed to their highest level in the past two years.
In late 2023 and much of 2024, search activity stayed moderate, with both terms trending below their peak levels.
By early 2025, interest started climbing steadily.
As of August 2025, both terms are nearing their maximum popularity, with search activity close to a perfect score of 100 (the highest possible value on Google Trends).
This surge shows that buyer demand is heating up, more people are actively looking for homes than at any time in the last two years.

This kind of momentum means something. Despite high mortgage rates and rising home prices, buyers haven’t disappeared. They’re still browsing, comparing, and waiting for the right opportunity. And your home might be exactly what they’re looking for.
